Lespedeza
Lespedeza: Who's this?
Straight from Fabaceae’s family, Lespedeza (Lespedeza spp.), helps cats and dogs who suffer from renal disorders, providing them with her leaves and branches which contain her power.
Superpowers
She is rich in flavonoids and tannins, has positive effects on acute and chronic renal insufficiency. She also promotes the expulsion of urea and chlorides from renal diseases by purifying and protecting the urinary system, thanks also to the peculiarity of her flavone, that it binds to sugar, she has a prolonged diuretic action. Fearlessly, she brings nitrogen into line, helping to regulate its presence in the blood so that it is not excessive and therefore harmful. She also has an antispasmodic and antiradical action thanks to the flavonoids, countering free radicals — historical enemies of cell structures.
Feats
Since Andrè Michaux, a French botanic, discovered the Lespedeza capitata in Florida and decided to give her the name of Lespedeza in honor of Manuel de Cèspedes, the state governor. Due to a transcription error, her name become lespedeza, so that once registered, was impossible to change it because of botanical rules. We cannot know what happened to poor Michaux afterwards.
