Don't force the appetite
Dog Appetite Loss
Did you know that when your little friend does not eat because he is not well, the best thing to do is not to stimulate him in any way, because the body knows exactly what it needs to do: suspend all search for food and consequent digestion - activities that would require an important involvement of the body - in order to devote all possible resources to the ongoing battle with the invading enemy.
Nothing is random in nature, we just need to look at the habits of wild animals (which actually tend to fast pretty strictly, when necessary) to remind us to apply the same principles to our dogs and cats, and even to ourselves. Be wary of anyone (husbands or wives, or mothers-in-law or grandparents) who insists to force dogs, cats or children to swallow food at all costs.
Rest assured that fasting is the lesser evil, and worry only if it lasts too long, always being aware that just a few days of withdrawal of food is not enough to compromise a life. Otherwise, all cultures who do this voluntarily would have already disappeared!
